Welcome to the virtual tour of Jewish Azerbaijan!

This time we are visiting a unique country located in the Caucasian Mountains between Black and Caspian Sea:

• it's former Soviet Republic;
• it borders Iran;
• it's the country with Muslim majority;
• it's faithful and strategically important political and economical partner of Israel;
• up to today it's a home to a large Jewish population numbering at least 20,000 Jews, although one may find Comunities of Azerbaijan Jews all over the world - in Israel, USA, Canada and Europe;
• there are two complitely different Jewish Communities living in Azerbaijan - Ashkenazi Jews and Mountain Jews. They speak different languages, they visit different Synagogues, they have different history and traditions.

Along the tour we will visit the capital of Azerbaijan Baku to get acquainted with Azerbaijan Ashkenazi Jews and a Jewish Village Quba - unique settlement where only Jews used to and continue to live. Jewish Village of Quba is an extraordinary place where we are still able to see a traditional life of Mountain Jews.
